Shaving Before Laser Hair Removal

When looking into laser hair removal services, there is a lot of confusion surrounding when to shave prior to an appointment. At Encore Medical Rejuvenation, we understand that many clients are new to laser hair removal services and, as such, may have skin preparation questions. Knowing how to prepare the targeted skin areas for the upcoming service can save discomfort and, in some cases, a client needing to reschedule.

When undergoing laser hair removal treatment services, it is important that the skin is not inflamed, razor-burned, sunburned, or otherwise irritated. Shaving the targeted area is actually suggested in the days before receiving a laser treatment. Unfortunately, hair follicles can become inflamed with shaving, so when is the best time to shave before an appointment and is there anything else a client should do before a laser hair removal service?

How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal Appointments

There are many reasons someone may want laser treatment hair removal services. For some, the hair growth is in embarrassing areas. For others, the convenience of not having to shave underarms, legs, face, or bikini areas is too good to pass up! When receiving laser hair removal treatments, Encore Medical Rejuvenation asks clients to prepare for their visit.

It is important that the area to be treated is shaved; however, it is not recommended to shave within 24 hours of the procedure. Doing so can irritate the skin and cause discomfort both during and after the laser hair removal treatment. It is also recommended that clients avoid sun exposure and tanning. The sun’s rays can irritate the skin, and any burns on the skin will cause our team to have to reschedule the appointment. Rescheduling is actually a protection for the client. Allowing 24 hours to pass between anything that may irritate the skin and the laser hair removal procedure lessens the chance of pain and irritation both during and after the procedure.

Last, clients should not have plucked, threaded, or waxed within six weeks of laser treatment services. These hair removal methods often remove the hair from the root, and the root is what is targeted by the laser.

Encore Medical Rejuvenation Laser Hair Removal Services

Laser hair removal treatments rid clients of unwanted hair by targeting the hair follicle. This treatment reduces the growth of unwanted body hair semi-permanently, but it is important to note that needing some maintenance laser treatments from time to time will be required. Encore Medical Rejuvenation in Edmonton has years of experience providing laser services for our clients. We know that laser hair removal works. While other hair removal methods use chemicals or painfully pull the hair out by the root, laser hair removal services target the hair follicle, stopping the hair growth before it starts. Dark hair or light, removing unwanted hair has never been easier!
