Vampire Facial

What Is a Vampire Facial?

A “Vampire Facial” typically refers to PRP used with microneedling. PRP is prepared by drawing a small amount of blood and using a centrifuge to separate out the platelet-rich portion, which contains concentrated platelets and growth factors.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin—often called collagen induction therapy—so the skin can rebuild with improved overall tone and texture over time.

Benefits (What This Treatment Can Help Improve)

Clients often choose PRP Microneedling to help reduce the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Acne scars and other mild scarring

  • Large-looking pores

  • Uneven tone, dullness, and sun damage appearance

  • Texture concerns (roughness, unevenness)

  • Firmness and elasticity concerns (subtle, natural-looking improvement)

Results are typically subtle and natural-looking, and develop progressively.

How the Treatment Works

Your appointment generally follows these steps:

  1. Consultation & skin assessment to confirm you’re a good candidate and align on goals.

  2. Blood draw (a small amount) from your arm.

  3. Centrifuge processing to isolate platelet-rich plasma.

  4. Topical numbing for comfort, followed by microneedling.

  5. PRP application to support recovery and rejuvenation through the microchannels created by microneedling.

Appointment Length and Downtime

  • Time: Many PRP facial treatments take about 45–60 minutes (some visits may run longer depending on your plan).

  • Downtime: Expect temporary redness and mild swelling for the first couple of days.

  • When you’ll see results: Some clients notice early improvement within about one week, with results building over the following weeks.

  • Treatment plan: If you’re aiming for more noticeable change, your provider may recommend a series of treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart, plus maintenance.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

You may be a strong candidate if you want to improve the look of:

  • Early signs of aging (fine lines, texture)

  • Post-acne textural changes or scarring

  • Enlarged pores or uneven tone

A consultation is the right time to review your skin goals, medical history, and timing (events, travel, photos, etc.).

When PRP May Not Be Recommended

PRP-based procedures may not be appropriate for everyone. For example, medical sources note PRP procedures may be not recommended for people with certain blood conditions affecting clotting, those taking blood thinners, or certain infections/conditions (your provider will screen this carefully).

In Canada, Health Canada also advises clients to talk to their practitioner if considering PRP treatments and to prioritize compliant, sanitary medical practices.
