If you have ever wondered about microblading, this permanent makeup technique can be a gamechanger for your morning routine!

Cosmetic tattoos are not what most people assume, especially when it comes to microblading. What Is Microblading?

There are a few common types of permanent makeup treatments available at Encore Medical Rejuvenation. Our cosmetic tattoo services include:

  • Powder Ombre Brows
  • Microblading
  • Eyeliner Micropigmentation
  • Lip Blush

One of the most common questions we hear is, “What is the difference between Powder Ombre Brows and Microblading?” Powder brows are applied with a machine. This procedure will give a much fuller, natural look to the brow. The technique used is great for any skin type and is typically less invasive than microblading. Microblading is a procedure where small scratches are created and filled with pigment. This process creates the look of tiny hair strokes.  This process may not be as effective on individuals with oily skin but gives a natural, shaped look to the brow.

What to Expect During a Microblading Treatment in Edmonton?

The reason we recommend choosing a licensed esthetician for your microblading Edmonton treatment has to do with how technical the process of microblading is when done well!

At the start of the treatment, the esthetician will clean the area and typically apply a local numbing cream to help the client stay relaxed and comfortable throughout the procedure.

Then, time is spent with the client measuring and marking the brow line to get the eyebrow shaping just right in preparation for the treatment. The client’s input is essential in this stage as this procedure is semipermanent and on the face. The outlined area is where the procedure occurs, and the pigmentation will be applied.

Once the brows have been planned out and marked properly, hair-like strokes are used to create fine lines that mimic natural hair. This process may sound painful, but due to the use of the numbing agent, most clients remain quite comfortable throughout the process.

After the procedure has been completed, it will need time to heal like any other type of tattoo. During the healing process, clients can expect minimal pain and slight itchiness as the scratches heal. It can take up to two weeks before the brows have fully healed. During this process, especially in the first week or so, many clients become nervous at the darkness of the brows. Don’t worry! Brows lighten as they heal, giving you the natural, flawless look you desire. Be sure to follow the after instructions for caring for your newly microbladed brows, as proper care will yield a better result.

To ensure your brows are perfect, clients will need to return 4-8 weeks after the first session for a touch-up appointment. During this session, our esthetician will fill in any sparse areas and touch up any areas needed.

Permanent Eyebrows?

Believe it or not, permanent Makeup treatments are not technically “permanent.” They will lighten dramatically over time, and most treatments will need to be redone within a few years of the initial treatment to keep added brow hairs visible and beautiful.

It’s called permanent makeup because it is tattooed on or scratched into the skin, and a pigment is added. It’s actually quite important that the makeup fades over time. Hair color changes, and, as we all understand, styles change, especially when it comes to eyebrows.

Considering Microblading Treatments?

While most people are perfect candidates for microblading, there are some things to consider before getting a permanent makeup procedure. If you are an individual with very oily skin, microblading may not be your best choice. We recommend powder ombre brows as the results will be better and more even. Additionally, there are some other things that may cause the brows to fade more quickly, such as sun exposure and chemical peels. Be forewarned that, as with any tattoo, the sun and chemical peeling can lighten the effects more quickly.

Last, if you have medical conditions such as any of the following, please speak with one of our estheticians before getting the procedure:

  • Skin irritations
  • Bleeding disorders
  • High blood pressure or heart problems
  • Cancer
  • Viral infections such as staff

How to Choose a Great Microblading Technician

It is important to keep in mind that cosmetic tattooing is a permanent makeup option. Great results can cause serious brow envy among friends, but less than stellar results will stick with you for quite some time. At Encore Medical Rejuvenation, our microblading procedure is only done by licensed estheticians. We are trained to evaluate skin tone before eyebrow microblading, choosing the perfect brow color for natural results. We also have highly advanced lasers that can remove any tattoos in the unlikely event it is needed.

A great microblading technician will take time with you to discuss your desired eyebrow shaping look. Be wary of pricing that seems unusually low, as this is a red flag that you may not get the treatment or results you deserve.

If you are looking for Microblading Edmonton, Encore Medical Rejuvenation can give you the permanent makeup results you crave!
